Workshops towards the topic of the project:

Workshop I
 “After the cartoon conflict – has freedom of press changed in Europe?”
Moderator: Anna Siitam (European Youth Press board-member, Sweden)
Input: Michael Geffken (journalist)

This workshop aims on the discussion of the cartoon conflict and the short-term and long-term reactions from several media on this topics. First of all the input will consists all developments on this cartoon issue.
Afterwards participants will have the opportunity to discusse their own approach towards the topic from no reactions upon fight for press-freedom. Is there a specific western ethic towards religious and media freedom – is one more worth then the other?

Workshop II
“Religion and New Spirituality – the substance beyond the buzzwords” 
Moderator: Kasia Karwan (POLIS – polish youthpress, Polen)
Input: Dr. Roland Löffler (Herbert Quandt-Stiftung,
Bad Homburg)

This workshop focus on the new aim specially of young people to gain more religious and spiritual meaning for their lifes. What kind of developments can be seen in Europe and what kind of role religion and churches are playing in the countries of the participants. Should media be independent or work specific with religious topics? Is there a neutral approach? This workshop will start with an input by Roland Löffler and focus afterwards on the experiences of the participants.

Workshop III
“Globalised World: Does our idea of homeland has a future?”
Host: Dumitru Iovu (European Youth Press, Moldova)
Input: Ari Rath, author and journalist, Israel

In the times of globalisation boarders get washed away and travel plus economy got everywhere. But does people need still the feeling of homeland for their identity? Does the media has to transport these pictures to stabilise people in their identity or does media can cover easily over boarders? Which ethical standards they have to take in mind? The input of this workshop will be given by Ari Rath from Israel and afterwards experiences from participants will be added.
